1. Can auto detailing remove scratches?

Yes, auto detailing can remove a scratch! One of the most annoying things that can happen to the exterior of a vehicle. The best way to remove them is to have a professional auto detailer take care of them. In most cases a professional detailer will be able to remove or rid your vehicle of those awful things.

Most vehicle’s surfaces are basically 4 different layers. The first layer being the metal and the second being the primer, third layer is considered the base coat and the fourth would be your clear coat. What does this have to do with scratches? Well depending on how deep the scratch reaches will determine the process it will take to remove them. Scratches that have penetrated the clear coat or the main coat of paint can be dealt with by a professional auto detailer yet so can the deeper ones but will need replacement paint.  If you’re unsure and need help, please contact us!

2. What is ceramic coating?

The Ceramic Coating, we use, Ceramic Pro, is a clear, liquid nanoceramic coating, based on a revolutionary technology developed by NanoShine LTD. It is applied by hand and when cured, this technology will chemically bond, transforming itself on the surface to become a rigid, super-structure of nano glass, protecting the substrate it is applied to. A Ceramic Coating creates a permanent or semi-permanent bond to vehicles paint, which does not wash away or break down and does not require repeated application every few months like traditional waxes.

3. What does ceramic coating do?

The ceramic coating forms an exceptionally strong and durable barrier, which results in making your vehicle more resilient and easier to clean. Some of the main benefits includes:

  • Being resistant to solvents acids, alkalis, UV rays, harsh weather conditions and corrosion. 
  • Being super hydrophobic, a fancy way to say it repels water. Basically, water will bead on the surface and slide off more easily, while mud and grime will have a more difficult time bonding to your vehicle’s paint as well.
  • Makes vehicle paint glisten with a high gloss.
  • Enhances the reflective properties of the paint and clear coat which brings out the depth and clarity of the paint.

4. What does ceramic coating not do?

Applying a Ceramic Coating adds value to your vehicle. It is not a super-cure that solves every problem for your car. Therefore, it is very important you know what it does not do!

It doesn’t eliminate the danger of scratches, swirl marks or rock chips. It does help cut down on small scratches or help reduce the risk of finer scratches by a good 50%. 

Another miss conception is the elimination of water spotting. It’s true that some water will roll off the vehicle, but some water droplets will bead up and remain on the vehicle. Not all water is created equal, as it evaporates on the surface of your vehicle, it leaves behind minerals. This creates those visible spots.

It doesn’t mean you can eliminate the need to wash your car! Let’s face it, if you drive your car it will get dirty! The benefit of ceramic coating is the cleaning process is much easier and less work.

5. How long in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?

We typically run 5-7 days out on schedule as we are 100% mobile operation and by appointment.  Although we do have people reschedule so there’s always a possibility of getting on schedule sooner! Give it a shot…call now!

6. What do I need to do prior to my appointment?

Please make sure that the bigger trash items are out of your vehicle, like fast food bags and Starbucks cups. Removing bulkier items, like boosters and child car seats, and removing items from the trunk helps us clean your car more efficiently and effectively.  More importantly, removing all your personal items from the car is a good way to ensure that our professionals can reach all the spots they need to. If your vehicle contains expensive or sensitive items, it’s worth making sure that everything inside is in your apartment, house, or garage before we get there. We’d hate to suck something up in the vacuum or mistakenly throw something in the trash. Taking care of things like that before we get there makes our job a bit easier. 7. How long does it take to detail a vehicle?

It’s difficult to give an estimation on how long the process takes since it is dependent on a variety of factors. To help, let’s go over some factors that we need to account for to determine how long it will take for your vehicle to be detailed by one of our professional detailers. Let’s start with how long our standard complete detailing package will take under ideal circumstances. Assuming your vehicle is not excessively dirty and is a car, then our package is priced for about 3 hours. Midsize SUV’s around 3.5 hours and full-size trucks/SUV’s 4.5 hours.

It will take less time if you go for one of our basic packages that do not include things like shampooing or other cleaning options that take a bit more time. However, if you go for our premium packages, then you should expect it to take much longer. Remember our professional detailers are incredibly thorough; they will completely touch every outside panel on your vehicle, the interior and the windows in one sitting.

9.Do I pay before or after my service is completed?

RECON Auto Detailing is built off character, commitment and integrity.  We feel our customers are the same. We do not charge you at time of booking either on the phone or online, but after to ensure you are 100% satisfied with our service.  All we ask is if you need to reschedule to please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. To date we do not feel the need to collect card information to book appointments. We understand things can change so if we are communicated with in a timely fashion, we feel no need to charge.
